PWR!Moves (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery Moves) is a Parkinson’s-specific training program to maintain or restore skills that deteriorate and interfere with everyday movements. PWR!Moves are performed with large, whole body movements, maximum effort, and intentional action in multiple postures (floor, all 4’s, sitting, and standing). These Parkinson’s exercise classes specifically target “4” skills shown by research to target mobility in people with PD (muscle strength for upright posture, weight shifting, spine flexibility, and transitional movements). As a result, persons with PD gain body awareness and maintain functional movements.

“Thank you Valerie Waldron Johnson and Balance Therapy for keeping this Parkinson’s person more limber and more symptom free with your knowledge of correct exercises, stretches and cardio to help delay Parkinson’s progress! I look forward to all our sessions!”
It was an hour session that enabled me to use my limbs that were going dormant. I shouted out YES!
I cannot be strong enough in my recommendation to seek out Dr. Johnson, or physical therapy. The education in exercise technique is immensely valuable. The gift of a transformed mindset regarding real engagement in that exercise is priceless.
“Keep up the great work, Val! I went to you for about two years for chronic vestibular balance and dizziness issues, and now I am so much better and these issues do not hinder my lifestyle. I think your optimism and energy were as important as the vestibular rehab exercises. You were more than just a physical therapist, but a PT/Life Coach! Thanks again for everything!”
But the most important gift she gave me was a different understanding, on an emotional level, of the value and importance of the exercise in which she was training me. For instance, she summarized that she was ‘retraining my brain’
“You are a wonderful teacher. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with you. You are a blessing to PD patients and others who benefit from your lovingly tough classes. Thank you for all you do. Your commitment to helping others is demonstrated continually by your words and actions.”
